The Cave You Fear

“The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek”.

I heard this Joseph Campbell quote on New Year's Eve and it really made me think about the impact fear can have on us.

I’m not talking about that instinctual fear that protects us when we are unsafe or in real danger.

I’m talking about the fear that tricks us and lies to us.

The fear that keeps us from living our best life.

Fear of failure.

Fear of the unknown or what’s next to come.

Fear of trying something new or taking a chance.

Fear of stepping out of our comfort zone.

Fear of following our passions and desires.

Fear of embarrassment or foolishness.

How often do we hold ourselves back from amazing opportunities because we are afraid?

Why do we hide behind a curtain of fear and believe its lies?

What possibilities lie untouched because fear keeps us from trying?

Caves can feel dark, dank and maybe even dangerous. They are confined and separate from the outside world. It’s no wonder we don’t want to step inside.

Now dig deep and ask yourself what is the cave YOU fear to enter?

What part of yourself do you avoid acknowledging? What do you pretend doesn’t exist? What is holding you back?

Everything you want and desire is on the other side of fear. It lives in that dark, unwelcoming cave and it’s waiting for you.

Isn’t it time to live a happy, fulfilled and enjoyable life?

It’s time to step into that cave.

You’re strong, focused and ready.

Treasures await you.

It’s time to go get them.

Be well everyone.

Laura
